The Academic Learning Center (ALC) is a friendly student-centered service that provides academic assistance, including:
improving academic writing skills
understanding statistics
one on one paper consultation
writing a literature review
academic honesty
plagiarism, paraphrasing and citation
Free individual and small group tutoring is available to currently enrolled Argosy students by appointment only. Appointments can be scheduled for one hour per day, and a student may receive up to 3 hours of tutoring per week. Students should not wait until the last minute to seek assistance.
Sessions are intended to supplement, not replace class attendance and personal study time. The tutor’s role is to be a facilitator for student learning. The tutor will not write or edit papers, do homework, help with take-home tests, or other assignments for students. Our goal is to empower students by helping them improve their critical thinking and academic writing skills.
Walk-in-Hours: The Academic Learning Center welcomes walk-ins. However, due to the high demand of tutoring services, preference will be given to those with a scheduled appointment. Therefore, it is not always guaranteed that we can sit with you to go over your paper for an hour long tutoring session when you walk in. So, stop by for walk-in services if you have quick, specific questions regarding APA style, academic honesty, or other questions.
The ALC is well-prepared and eager to help students. We have CRLA certified tutors, useful writing resources and computers for student use.
