About the Library:
■General
Please be aware that food, drinks, and cell phones are not allowed in the library. Drinks may be left by the front entrance.
■Books
To find out if the library owns a particular book, please use the Argosy University Online Catalog. You may search for a book by title, subject, author or keyword. Books may be checked out for a period of three weeks and may be renewed twice either in person, by phone, or online. Books can be returned at the circulation desk during library hours or in the drop box when the library is closed. The drop box is located next to the main library entrance. A .15¢ a day fee is charged for overdue books
■Reserve Materials
Many required texts and articles for courses are available on reserve at the circulation desk. Reserve materials can be checked out for two hours at a time with a valid student I.D. Reserve materials returned after the 2 hour loan period are subject to $2.00 per hour fine.
■Journals
The library subscribes to a number print journals related to business, education and psychology. The library also has a collection of journals on microfiche. To search the library collection of journals there are two options: search the online A to Z Journal List, or browse a printed list that is available in the library. Journals cannot be taken out of the library or checked out overnight. Microfiche is kept towards the back of the library. After using microfiche, please return the microfiche to the library staff to be re-filed. If you need instruction on how to use the microfiche reader and printer, please see one of the library staff members for help.
■Psychological Testing Materials
The library has a number of psychological tests that can be checked out for three days at a time. Use the online testing materials list to find out if the library owns a particular item. A fine of $5.00 a day will be charged for overdue testing materials. WAIS-III and WISC-IV kits are available to students enrolled in the assessment course. WAIS and WISC kits may be checked out on a limited basis (depending on availability) to students not enrolled in an assessment course.
■CRP's, Dissertations and Master's Theses
CRP's (Clinical Research Projects), Dissertations and Theses can be checked out for one week, with two renewals. To search for CRP's dissertations and theses you may use the Argosy University Library Online Catalog. You can also search our online Dissertation/ Theses list, or browse a printed list available at the circulation desk. Overdue fines are $.15 a day.
■Reference Section
The library reference section includes encyclopedias, dictionaries, directories and other materials, and are allowed to be used in the library only.
■Computers
There are two computer labs; the library lab and Room 1078. The programs that are available include Microsoft Word Office, SPSS, Rorschach, WISC-IV and WPPSI software . Online databases such as PsycINFO, Medline, OCLC First Search are also available through the library website. For user name and password to access these databases, please inquire at the circulation desk or contact the library at (312) 777-7653.
■Audiovisual Equipment
The library no longer handles A\V equipment. To make reservations please call the "the Cage" at ext. 4600. If you are calling from outside, please call 312.280.3500, then transfer to the Cage.
■Videotapes/ Audiotapes
Videotapes can be checked out for three days, unless the item is needed for a class. There is a $5.00 per day charge for overdue videos. To browse the library's video tape collection go to the library's online video collection list, or inquire at the circulation desk. Videos can also be searched using the online catalog. Audio tapes can be checked out for two days. Duplicating tapes is not permitted unless it is authorized by the Librarian. To search the library's audio tape collection go to the online audio tape list.
■Photocopy Machines
There are three copy machines available for student use near the reference desk in the library. Copy cards may be purchased and recharged through the copy card dispensing machine located near the copiers. Copies are $.10 per exposure. The circulation desk may not be able to make change, so please come prepared.
■Alumni Borrowing Privileges
Generally, alumni have access to library resources and must adhere to the same policies as current students with the following exceptions:
1. Alumni do not have access to the library subscription databases, and cannot check out any testing materials.
2. Alumni must register with the library with a current address, phone, e-mail and driver’s license # before checking out any materials or using interlibrary loan services.
3. Alumni may request up to ten interlibrary loan items per year:
Fees are as follows:

-- Articles $1.00
-- Faxed requests: $5.00 per item
-- Mailed items: $5.00 shipping charge per book/ 1.00 per article (in addition to 1.00 fee for article)
All outstanding fines and fees must be paid in order to maintain library borrowing privileges.

MA/ PsyD Comprehensive exams from the past three years are available to students and can be requested at the circulation.
